Lanto Griffin catapulted himself into the Houston Open lead with a seven-under-par 65 in spherical three.
Griffin climbed 16 positions because the surging American claimed a one-stroke benefit atop the leaderboard on Saturday.
Looking for his maiden PGA Tour title, Griffin had 9 birdies and a pair of bogeys to change into the person to beat heading into the ultimate spherical.
